Missing Stockton Woman Carolina Adkins Found Safe

STOCKTON (CBS13) — A missing Stockton woman has been found safe.

Stockton Police said Carolina Adkins was found safe and was not the victim of a crime. She has since been reunited with her family, who is requesting privacy at this time.

There was no warning or hint of trouble when Adkins left in the middle of the night on Thursday after celebrating the new year.

"She told me she was going to the living room. I didn't pay no attention to it, so I went back to sleep," said her husband Joe Shepard.

At 1 a.m., just one hour after celebrating the new year with her family, Adkins told her brother Marcellus that she was going for a quick walk. She gave him a hug and said she'd be back.

Stockton Police said it was puzzling that Carolina Adkins disappeared after leaving her cellphone, keys and wallet at the family apartment. They don't know where she was walking in the middle of the night.
