Body Of One Missing Canoer Found, Another Still Missing In Donner Lake

TRUCKEE, Calif. (CBS13/AP) -- Police in Northern California say they have found the body of one missing canoer and that rescue crews continue to search for another man who went missing after their canoe capsized in Donner Lake.

Truckee police say the body was found in 14 to 20 feet of water Saturday.

Police first received reports of the incident Friday afternoon and began a search with boats, divers and a helicopter. Authorities called off the search Friday night due to weather and darkness.

Divers, underwater cameras and sonar are also being used in the search.

Police say the two friends were visiting the area and staying at a cabin.

Later Saturday afternoon, police announced that the search for the second missing person had been suspended for the day. Search crews have been dealing with difficult weather, like heavy winds and clouds.

The search will resume again Sunday morning, police say.
