Midtown Murder Suspect Makes First Court Appearance
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The man Sacramento Police say killed a 31-year-old woman in Midtown faced a judge for the first time on Friday.
Detectives broke their silence on how they believe Mohammad Khan killed Kelsey Snyder in her apartment on June 28.
Khan stared downward while he heard charges read against him during Friday's hearing.
Judge Joseph Orr revealed for the first time how Snyder died.
"Personally discharged a firearm resulting in great bodily injury and death to Kelsey Snyder," he said.
The 34-year-old suspect posted a message on the CBS Sacramento Facebook page expressing regret over Snyder's death in an apparent confession.
A few days after that post, he was caught trying to sneak into Mexico.
Defense attorney Michael Platt didn't offer much on the case, saying he'd only been able to speak to Khan shortly before Friday's hearing.
"There's a long road ahead of us and I have nothing yet to review," he said.
Khan will be back in court on July 31.
