MIDDLETOWN (CBS13) – A couple who lost their home in the Valley Fire salvaged at least one precious item in the aftermath.

Jenn Holliman posted on the Valley Fire Information Facebook page that her Middletown home was one of the homes destroyed in the fire. Holliman said that her husband had been in a motorcycle accident six weeks ago and wasn't wearing his wedding ring due to his swelling hand.

The wedding ring was left behind; but on Sunday while sifting through the damage, Holliman found the ring, she said.

According to a GoFundMe page set up by Holliman's family, Jenn and her husband lost everything except their dog, cats, two cars and the clothes on their backs.

More than 1,000 homes have been destroyed in the Valley Fire as of Sunday, according to Cal Fire numbers.  The fire has burned a total of 75,711 acres and is now 69 percent contained.
