Mesa Police Identify 4-Year-Old Boy Who Died In Drowning

MESA, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities have identified a Mesa boy who died after drowning in a swimming pool.

Mesa police say 4-year-old Richard Wilcken was taken to a hospital by firefighters Saturday afternoon where the child was pronounced dead.

Investigators say it appears the boy climbed out of a window and then accidentally got into the pool, which has no fencing.

Family members noticed he was missing and the boy's father discovered him in the pool.

It is not clear how long he was under water.

Fire officials say the pool water was very murky, which made it hard to find the boy right away.
