Merced County Deputy Shot By Suspect Out Of Surgery, Expected To Recover

DELHI (CBS13) — A Merced County Sheriff's deputy is out of surgery and is expected to survive after being wounded by a suspect in the city south of Turlock.

The sheriff's department says deputies responded to a domestic violence call when the suspect walked out of the home with an assault-style weapon and began firing at the deputies.

Deputies returned fire, killing the suspect.

The injured deputy has been with the department for more than 10 years.
