Once at the scene, the sheriff's office said deputies learned there was a physical altercation between a man and his wife at the home. The suspect then got a handgun and fired at least one shot into the ground near the woman, deputies said.
Deputies noted that the victim was able to seek safety with law enforcement, but the armed suspect barricaded himself inside a home.
Several units, including a Bearcat armored vehicle and other law enforcement equipment, were deployed in the neighborhood.
Deputies said the suspect had access to multiple firearms. Authorities said they used chemical agents to get the suspect to leave the home and take him into custody.
After he was medically cleared, the suspect, 64-year-old Rickey Hayashida, was booked into jail.
