Manteca Youth Pastor Cleared In Las Vegas Man's Death

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A California pastor won't face charges in a Las Vegas parking lot altercation that left a man dead.

Prosecutors announced Friday they won't pursue charges against 35-year-old Robert Lynn Cox in the death of 55-year-old Link Ellingson.

The Clark County district attorney's office concluded it could not rule out that Cox had acted in self-defense.

Cox says he was with family and interns on a mission trip to Las Vegas in June 2013 when they stopped at the Four Kegs pub. Group members say Ellingson assaulted them in the parking lot and Cox fell to the ground with him.

Ellingson hit his head and died six months later.

Police say Cox initially told them he punched Ellingson but later changed his story. Witnesses supported his claim of self-defense.
