Man, Wife Arrested In Violent Hammer Attack Against Teenager

CHINO, Calif. (AP) - Officials say the wife of a suspect has also been arrested in a hammer attack that left a Southern California high school student critically injured.

San Bernardino County jail records show 40-year-old Raina Renee Crawford and her 48-year-old husband Gregory Richmond were being held Friday night on $1 million bail on suspicion of attempted murder.

City of Chino spokeswoman Michelle Van Der Linden says Richmond was arrested Thursday after he hit the student in the head across from Chino High School.

Van Der Linden tells the Los Angeles Times Crawford was arrested later Thursday for aiding her husband during the attack.

The boy remains in critical condition.

It wasn't clear whether Richmond knew the victim, or what motivated the attack.

It wasn't clear if the Richmonds had hired an attorney.
