Man Who Helped Dad Commit Suicide Charged With Murder

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A Utah man who allegedly told police he helped his father commit suicide is now charged with murder.

Prosecutors say 24-year-old Shane Paul Wright of Holladay strangled his father with an extension cord and a pillow Oct. 1.

Police have said he called 911 and told dispatchers the scene was gruesome because he'd helped 53-year-old father Bryan Wright kill himself to "help his dad through all his pain."

The older man died at a hospital a few days later.

Shane Wright is being held at the Salt Lake County jail on $1 million bail.
