Man Targeted In Underage Alcohol Sting Accused Of Selling Decoy Psychedelic Mushrooms

ROSEVILLE (CBS13) - A Penryn man was arrested on drug charges Friday night after he allegedly sold drugs to an underage decoy who had originally asked him to buy beer.

On Friday night, the 20-year-old decoy working with Placer County Sheriff's Department approached Noah James Phippen and asked him if he could buy him the alcohol. Being only 19, Phippen refused, citing his age. But he allegedly offered to sell the decoy some "California gold cap mushrooms".

The decoy agreed to purchase the drugs with his beer money, according to a statement from the Placer County Sheriff's Department.

After the reported deal, Phippen was confronted by deputies and denied selling the decoy the drugs.

A search of Phippen's vehicle allegedly turned up cocaine, methamphetamine and psilocybin. He was booked into the Placer County Jail on charges of possessing the drugs and selling psilocybin. His bail is set at $200,000.
