Man Struck And Killed By Car Leaving Mercy San Juan Medical Center

SACRAMENTO (CBS13)- A 69-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle while walking home from Mercy San Juan Medical Center last night.

CHP says the 69-year-old pedestrian was just released from the hospital at 11:30 PM and was walking eastbound on Madison Avenue near San Juan when he was struck by a Hyundai Accent.

Police tell us the driver of the Accent was a 63-year-old man who turned the corner when he saw the pedestrian in his headlights and tried to brake but could not stop in time.

Police tell us the pedestrian had gone through the windshield of the car and was killed on scene. There is no signs the driver was speeding or under the influence and there is no sidewalk or way for pedestrians on that road.
