Man Shot In South Sacramento

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Detectives are investigating a homicide at a South Sacramento apartment complex.

The shooting happened just before 6 a.m. at the complex at 4719 50th Avenue, which is just a few blocks west of Highway 99. Witnesses reporting hearing seven to nine shots then saw two men running away.

The man who died is described as a Caucasian male in his 50s. He was shot several times, according to Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputies.

Residents say the man was a neighbor and was most likely preparing to leave for work when he was gunned down.

"He was just a humble old man, doing nothing wrong; kept to himself; went to church on Sundays," said a resident.

"It's pretty hard because he was like a family member. His family knew a lot of us over there," said another resident.

For apartment resident Theresa Fuller, the killing hits home.

"My husband was murdered her nine months ago and they have not gotten his murderer either. He was shot in the back in the parking lot while working on our son's car," said Fuller.

The sheriff's department has not identified a suspect or suspects or a motive.
