Man Shot And Killed, Woman Pistol-Whipped In South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE (CBS13) - Police are searching for the person who gunned down a man in South Lake Tahoe over the weekend.

On Saturday, Dennis Michael Wright Jr., 40, and a companion, Kendra Ghiorso, 45, both of Amador County, were in the parking lot of Beverly Lodge on South Lake Tahoe Boulevard illegally delivering 100 pounds of marijuana, according to a statement from Tracy Franklin, a spokesperson for the City of South Lake Tahoe. Several people met with Wright and Ghiorso at the hotel, and around 7:40 p.m., someone shot Wright in the upper-torso and hit pistol-whipped Ghiorso on the head, causing a serious, but non-life threatening injury.

Police searched a hotel room and two vehicles that had also been hit by bullets. Inside the vehicle driven by Wright and Ghiorso, police found two handguns and ammunition.

Police detectives, along with the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department and district attorney's office, are attempting to identify suspects in the case and develop leads.
