Man Shoots Self After Shootout With LA County Deputy

NORWALK, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a man has shot himself after a shootout with Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies.

It happened Friday in the parking lot of a Target store in Norwalk.

Reports of a man with a gun sent deputies to the scene.

Sheriff's officials say a deputy and the man traded fire although details of the confrontation haven't been released.

Authorities say a short time later the man apparently shot himself and was taken to a hospital. There's no immediate word on his condition.
