Man Named Person Of Interest In Slaying Of Butte County Couple

OROVILLE, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say they have arrested a heavily armed Northern California man in connection with the slaying of a couple in Butte County.

Butte County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Miranda Bowersox said Thursday that 44-year-old GD Hendrix is a person of interest in the deaths of 59-year-old Peter "Mike" Kroencke and his 56-year-old wife, Olga Kroencke.

Relatives reported them missing on Dec. 20 when they didn't arrive for a visit. They were found dead in a vehicle 20 miles away and had been shot.

Bowersox says detectives arrested Hendrix on Tuesday coming out of a store. He had a loaded AK-47 semi-automatic assault rifle strapped to his back, a revolver on his waist, a hunting pistol over his arm and brass knuckles around his neck

It was not immediately clear if Hendrix had an attorney.
