Man Missing After Raft Sinks On South Fork Of American River

EL DORADO COUNTY (CBS13) - Authorities are searching for a Folsom man who went missing while rafting on the South Fork of the American River over the weekend.

On Sunday morning, El Dorado County sheriff's dispatch received a call reporting that a man was floating in an inflatable raft with his friend on the river at around 9 p.m. Saturday, when the raft sank a short distance past Gorilla Rock, and the two became separated, according to a statement from the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office. The man hadn't seen his friend, Raymond Nocon, 32, of Folsom, since the incident.

Personnel from the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office, El Dorado County Search and Rescue, El Dorado County Parks, U.S. Bureau of Land Management, California State Parks and the California Highway Patrol have joined the search for Nocon.

Gorilla Rock is about 7.6 miles up the river from the Salmon Falls Bridge.
