Man Involved in 42nd Street Crash Dies

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- Sacramento Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened around 7:45 p.m. Friday.

Police say they responded to a three car crash at Broadway and 42nd Street in South Sacramento to find that one of the people involved in the crash, a man, was still pinned inside one of the vehicles and had sustained life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say the Sacramento Fire Department had to extricate the man before transporting him to an area hospital where he later died as a result of injuries.

Police say preliminary information shows the man was travelling westbound on Broadway when, for an unknown reason, he crossed into oncoming traffic and struck the two other vehicles.

It is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash and the identity of the man who was killed has not yet been released.
