Man Dies In Central California Boating Accident

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a man drown in Central California's Edison Lake after his aluminum fishing boat capsized.

The Fresno County Sheriff's Office said Sunday 56-year-old Michael Flynn was not wearing a life jacket when his boat capsized Saturday, though officials later found one in the boat.

Fresno County Sheriff's spokesman Tony Botti says the man was alone on the boat after dropping off a friend on the shore.

He says the friend tried to swim over to help Flynn but had to turn around due to water and wind conditions.

Two nearby hikers swam out to Flynn, pulled him to shore and performed CPR but he was declared dead at the scene.

Botti says a helicopter flew Flynn's body to an airport and turned over to coroner officials.

He says alcohol appears to have contributed to the accident.
