Man Charged With Manslaughter In Deadly California Crash

POWAY, Calif. (AP) — San Diego County authorities say a suspected drunken driver has been arrested in a fatal three-vehicle accident on California's Highway 67 near Poway.

The sheriff's department says in a news release that deputies responded to the collision Saturday night and found one of the vehicles on fire. They were unable to free a person from that vehicle.

The department says a 51-year-old man driving a pickup truck north on the highway, veered into the southbound lane, hit the rear of a car then hit another car, killing that driver.

The truck driver was taken to a hospital and treated for a broken wrist. The sheriff's department says he was arrested on alcohol-related charges, including felony vehicular manslaughter.

The highway around the crash site was closed until about 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
