Man Arrested In Stockton Charged With Attempted Murder Of Oakland Cop

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- Authorities say a 30-year-old man has been charged with the attempted murder of a police officer for shooting at a police sergeant in Oakland last month.

KCBS reports Tuesday that Marcus Tyrone Moss of Oakland was arraigned in Alameda County Superior Court Monday in the shooting of Sgt. Nadia Clark in East Oakland on the night of July 23.

Moss' firearm appears to have malfunctioned twice and Clark was not hit by gunfire.

It was not immediately known if Moss has an attorney.

On the night of the shooting, Clark had crashed her patrol car while responding to another call. Following the crash, the shooting happened. She was treated for injuries sustained in the crash.

Police say Moss was arrested in Stockton last Thursday after a standoff.

Moss is also charged with being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm.
