Man Arrested In Connection With Shooting Death In Sacramento County

SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) - Deputies have arrested a man in connection with the shooting death of a man in Sacramento County on Thursday night.

Just before 9 p.m., deputies were called out to the 5500 block of Monteagle Court in Sacramento where the caller reported a man was shot and lying on the ground. When deputies arrived, they found the victim, a 43-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds lying near the front door of the residence, according to a statement from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies began life-saving measures, but the man was later pronounced dead at the scene. They determined that two other adults were at the residence during the incident and detained them for questioning.

Through their investigation, deputies determined that an argument between the victim and a female at the home reportedly led up to the fatal shooting.

The suspect, 43-year-old Robert Gene McCormack, reportedly intervened in the argument, resulting in a physical confrontation with the victim. McCormack allegedly went inside the residence, returned with a gun and shot the victim.

All three adults at the residence knew each other, say deputies.

Detectives arrested Robert Gene McCormack of Sacramento and booked him into the Sacramento County Main Jail on the charge of murder.

McCormack is ineligible for bail and is scheduled to appear in Sacramento Superior Court on July 6, 2016.

The identity of the victim is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
