Man Arrested After Allegedly Shooting Carjacking Suspect

ANTIOCH, Calif. (AP) - Police in Northern California say they have arrested a man in the shooting death of a carjacking suspect who allegedly stole his car at gunpoint.

KPIX-TV reports Antioch Police arrested 37-year-old Leo Lopez Friday night in the parking lot of a convenience store after receiving reports of shots fired.

Police say Lopez told investigators he had just been the victim of a carjacking at gunpoint and that his white van had been stolen.

Police also received calls about a white van that had crashed into a parked car a few blocks away. Officer found a man who had been shot several times dead at the wheel.

Investigators say Lopez got out of the van, pulled a gun and fired several shots at his own vehicle as the suspect drove away.
