Man Arrested After Chase With Deputies In North Highlands

NORTH HIGHLANDS (CBS13) - A man is in custody after allegedly leading sheriff's deputies on a pursuit in North Highlands Monday.

The incident happened shortly before 10 a.m. on Larchmont and Floral drives after the driver, Timmonthy Ryan Sorrell, 25, of Sacramento, reportedly committed a traffic violation and refused to pull over. Sorrell then reportedly led deputies on a short chase that ended when he crashed into a fence on Melrose Road and Claussen Way.

Deputies learned the vehicle had been reported stolen, but had not yet been entered into law enforcement's stolen vehicle system.

"The car was, in fact, reported stolen, which is what we determined after this person was apprehended. He will face charges of being in possession of a stolen vehicle," said Jim Brannon Poleet, a spokesperson for the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.

Sorrell was booked into jail on charges of felony auto theft, felony possession of stolen property, felony evading police in a reckless manner, and misdemeanor parole violation.
