Man And His Dog Die In Suspicious Fire

SEAL BEACH, Calif. (AP) - A man and his dog are dead following a fire in Seal Beach that authorities are calling suspicious.

The blaze was reported Saturday shortly after midnight on 17th Street.

Arriving firefighters saw flames and heavy smoke from the second floor of a duplex.

It took 60 firefighters more than an hour to douse the flames.

The man and the dog were found in a second-floor apartment. Police identified the man as 67-year-old John Donnelly.

There's no word on what caused the fire but investigators are calling it suspicious.
