Man Accused Of Stabbing Skateboarder To Death In Modesto

MODESTO (CBS13) - A man is in police custody, accused of homicide, in the fatal stabbing of another man in Modesto over the weekend.

Just before 3 p.m. Sunday, police received reports that a man had been stabbed on 600 Coffee Road. When they arrived, they found Trevor Bolton, 25, suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Police say the incident happened as Bolton was skateboarding with a young child and an adult friend, according to a Modesto Police Department statement. He exchanged words with the suspect, 23-year-old David Cutler, who was driving by. Cutler then reportedly drove to a parking lot along Coffee Road where he confronted Bolton, and a scuffle ensued. Police allege Cutler pulled out a knife and stabbed Bolton several times.

Security officers who were nearby detained Cutler. He was then turned over to police who took him into custody.

Bolton was transported to a local hospital where he underwent surgery, but later died.

Cutler has been booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on the charge of murder.
