Man, 42, Shot After Pointing BB Gun At Officer

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Officers shot and killed a man who reportedly pointed a BB gun at them late Friday afternoon.

The incident happened at a home along the 2000 block of 61st Street.

According to the Sacramento Police Department, officers were called to the home just after 5:30 p.m. due to some sort of domestic disturbance reported by a neighbor.

At the scene, officers encountered a man armed with what looked like a handgun. The man then allegedly pointed the gun at an officer, prompting the officer to shoot him.

The man walked out of the home and surrendered after being shot. He was then rushed to a hospital, but was later pronounced dead.

Officers later found that the gun the man had was actually a BB gun, but visually indistinguishable from a real weapon.

The man has only been identified as 42-years-old. Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
