Man, 38, Commits Suicide At Universal Studios Theme Park

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Authorities say a man who shot himself to death at the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park was a 38-year-old Orange County man.

Los Angeles County coroner's officials said Saturday that Andrew Thomas Jones of Fullerton was pronounced dead at the scene Friday afternoon near the "Despicable Me Minion Mayhem" ride.

Sheriff's officials say Jones was the ex-boyfriend of a Universal Studios employee, who called security officers Friday after spotting Jones.

City News Service reports Jones had two restraining orders barring him from contacting the woman after two incidents at the park.

Lt. Eddie Hernandez said when approached by a deputy, Jones pulled a gun and shot himself despite the deputy's effort to talk him out of hurting himself.
