STOCKTON (CBS13) - A 25-year-old man is dead after a crash in Stockton Sunday night.

The scene was near March Lane and Pershing Avenue. Stockton police say officers responded to the scene just before 9:30 p.m. after a crash was reported.

Witnesses soon told officers that they saw a silver Jaguar speeding west on March Lane. The driver blew through a red light at the Pershing intersection and lost control, witnesses say.

The car crashed into a large sign at the entrance of St. Mark's Plaza, trapping a 25-year-old passenger inside. He was soon pronounced dead at the scene by medics.

The driver, only identified at this time as a 31-year-old man, was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
