Major Roadway Into Yosemite National Park Blocked By Rockslide

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK (CBS13) - A rockslide has a one of the roadways into Yosemite National Park closed for the time being.

The slide happened above El Portal Road (Highway 140) a little before 6 a.m. Thursday.

No one was hurt in the rockslide. Due to the incident, El Portal Road from the park boundary in El Portal to Big Oak Flat Road is closed. Crews do not have an estimated time of reopening.

Both Wawona road and Big Oak Flat Road, the other highways leading into the park, remain open. All roads in Yosemite Valley are under chain restrictions at the moment.

Officials note that El Portal and its lodging and other facilities are still accessible.
