Lodi Teacher Accused Of DUI, Hit-And-Run Crash

LODI (CBS13) — A Lodi Unified School District teacher is accused of driving under the influence, crashing his vehicle and leaving the scene.

The California Highway Patrol says Gary Wayne Young, 59, was arrested in front of his Galt home over the weekend.
Neighbors of the Liberty High School algebra teacher were surprised to hear about the allegations.

School officials confirmed that he's a teacher at the Lodi school, but wouldn't comment on it, saying it's a personnel issue.

Ina Davies has been Young's neighbor for years. She says if the hit-and-run and DUI allegations are true, it's disappointing.

"The example for his children his students is not good," she said.

Young has since bailed out of the Sacramento County Jail.
