Man Whose Body Was Found After Lodi House Fire Identified

LODI (CBS13) - Authorities have identified the body of a man who was found inside a house that was on fire on Sunday afternoon.

The man's body was discovered at the home on West Vine Street around 1:45 p.m. An autopsy by San Joaquin County Coroner's Office determined he had been stabbed to death prior to the fire.

On Friday, the man was identified as 53-year-old Alan Karl Gregor Jr. by Deputy Les Garcia, a San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office spokesperson.

It took about 10 minutes to contain the fire, but once they did, firefighters entered the home and found the body of Gregor inside.

Tom Sarefield told CBS13 he's known Gregor for years and was shocked to learn of his friend's death.

"He was everybody's best friend for the longest time," he said. "Everybody got along with him."

Lodi Police Department has taken over the investigation and is working with arson investigators to figure out what caused the fire.

According to investigators, the incident doesn't appear to be gang related but they haven't said if they have any suspects or motives in mind. If you have any information, you can call Lodi Police Department at (209) 369-2746.
