Local Star Wars Fan Gets A Special Letter From Lucasfilm

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A pint-sized star wars fan wanted to become a Jedi Knight, but felt the Force let him down in a big way when he learned the title came with one major restriction.

Seven-year-old Colin Gilpatric wants to get married, but Jedi Knights aren't allowed to.

"I saw that Jedi can't get married in a Star Wars book," Colin said.

Colin was so upset he wrote a letter to George Lucas. And, surprisingly enough, a few weeks later Colin received a reply in the mail.

Inside was some Star Wars comic books and picture of George Lucas – and this response to Colin's question.

"It sounds like the Force is strong with you, and you are showing great wisdom by asking your question," the letter begins.

"When you find someone that you can connect to in a selfless way, then you are on the path of the light," the letter continues. "With this goodness in your heart, you can be married."

A video showing Colin's response to the letter has gone viral, garnering more than 116,000 views since April 13.

Not to rush things, but Colin is already planning a future Jedi nuptials.

"If I ever get married, mom is going to read it at my wedding," Colin said.

Colin got in a little trouble at school soon after he received his letter because he was asking girls in his class to marry him.
