Lightning Strikes Reported Overnight In San Joaquin Valley

MODESTO (CBS13) – It may be summer, but some areas of the valley could see a little bit of rain Thursday.

Viewers sent in a few pictures of lightning overnight. According to the National Weather Service, the lightning was concentrated south of Modesto, with clusters reported near Merced and Fresno.

There's a 20% chance of showers Thursday morning for the valley, but it will otherwise be partly sunny.

The cloud cover will slightly lower the temperatures, meaning highs manly in the mid-90s.

This afternoon, showers and thunderstorms are expected to flare up again in the Sierra.

Fourth of July weekend is expected to be dry for the valley, with highs in the low to mid 90s. Afternoon rain and thunderstorms are also expected in the Sierra.
