Lightning-Sparked Fire Damages Antelope Home

ANTELOPE (CBS13) - Lightning sparked a house fire in Antelope on Friday night.

The fire happened in the 4500 block of Country Run Way in Antelope. It began when lightning hit two palm trees and caught them on fire, according to a Sacramento Metro Fire Department spokesperson.

Leaves fell onto the roof of a nearby home with wood shake shingles and set them on fire. The fire then spread to a dryer vent, and on to the laundry room where it was eventually extinguished.

Damage is estimated at $50,000.

No one was injured in the fire.
