Person dies after hit-and-run in south Sacramento, police say

SACRAMENTO — An investigation is underway in south Sacramento after a person was struck and killed by a hit-and-run suspect Saturday night. 

Sacramento police say officers responded near Lemon Hill Avenue and the 65th Street Expressway just after 8:30 p.m. to investigate a reported collision. 

At the scene, officers found that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. 

The person died at the scene, police say. The name of the person has not yet been released by authorities. 

Officers say whoever struck the pedestrian left the scene before they arrived. No description of the suspect or their vehicle has been given. 

Roads are closed in the immediate area, police say. Drivers are being urged to avoid the area for the time being.
