Lake County Couple Loses Everything To Rocky Fire
LAKE COUNTY (CBS13) — A couple who was left homeless by the Rocky Fire is left to pick through the pieces as the fire continues to rage.
The Rocky Fire has burned more than 67,000 acres and is 20 percent contained.
They wanted to live the rest of their lives together in a home off the grid, on a hill, and surrounded by trees.

"Feels like I was robbed or something," Shane Dalton said. Just so helpless. There's nothing we can do, and everything's gone.
Instead, they have to start over. They saw the smoke plume on Wednesday and knew it was time to go. They drove away with flames on either side of the road. They held onto some hope that their lives may still be there.
The couple doesn't have insurance, but they are getting some help from friends. Now the question lingers whether they will rebuild.
But not everything was gone. In the ashes, Dalton found a Zippo lighter he gave his grandfather before he died.
"It's been through this now, so it's got an added story to it," he said.
The couple moved into the home as a rental in February with hopes to own it, so they hadn't gotten insurance before the Rocky Fire burned through.
