Kings Sign Draft Pick Isaiah Cousins To One-Year Deal

For Sacramento Kings fans wanting more Cousins on the court, their prayers have been answered.

Shams Charania of The Vertical on Yahoo! reported Tuesday morning the signing of second-round draft pick Isaiah Cousins to a partially-guaranteed one-year contract with the Kings.

The 22-year-old guard out of Oklahoma was selected by the Kings 59th overall earlier this summer after playing all four years of college ball. His numbers in his senior season were 12.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game, but his most dangerous asset is his three point shooting (career 40.7% from behind the arc in more than 400 attempts).

Cousins will join the other Cousins - DeMarcus - as well as the rest of the Kings in training camp within the next month.

Isaiah's playing time will be dependant on how well newcomer Ty Lawson can build chemistry with the coaches and starters while staying out of trouble off the court. Besides Lawson, the Kings only have Darren Collison (who may be facing a league suspension due to his ongoing domestic violence case) and rookie Malachi Richardson set up to man the point guard position, so Cousins has a shot at some decent minutes off the bench.
