Kings Introduce Dave Joerger As New Head Coach

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - The Sacramento Kings have officially named a new head coach.

Dave Joerger was formally introduced today. The Kings have not disclosed details of Joerger's new contract yet, but ESPN reports it's a four-year deal worth $16 million.

Joerger was recently fired from the Memphis Grizzlies. In his three years with the team, they made it to the NBA playoffs every year.

Divac: Hopefully you're going to love California and have a good time here in the next four years.

Joerger: Twelve, fourteen

Divac: Well, we'll see. The pressure's on you.

Joerger takes over for George Karl who was fired at the end of the season. The big question is what will he do to connect and control DeMarcus Cousins?

As we look at the situation and what we're gonna do moving forward, how the team is gonna look, how we're gonna play, I can't help but look back and be nostalgic about to me the heyday, the glory days…and the chemistry they played with, and the compassion that they played with, and the love that they had for the community, and coming out and competing every night and playing in a certain style…it was about the team," said Joerger.

Joerger's NBA win-loss record is 147-99.
