Investigators: Suspected Shooting Victim Was Actually Stabbed While Trying To Rob Home

NORTH HIGHLANDS (CBS13) — Investigators say a man once thought to have been shot to death was actually stabbed while he tried to rob a home.

Kaveon Plummer-Lee, 19, was able to drive to a home on Channing Drive and exit the vehicle, but he collapsed and died on Sunday. Before his death, he said he had been shot.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department said on Thursday that Plummer-Lee had instead been stabbed, and was the suspect in a home-invasion robbery attempt earlier in the night.

Detectives believe the resident of the home in the suspected robbery acted in self-defense.
