Investigation Underway After Car Hits Pole In Sacramento

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – California Highway Patrol is investigating after a car rammed into a pole early Thursday morning.

The scene is at the intersection of Marconi Avenue near Heron Way.

The pole was split apart in the crash. Witnesses say the driver hopped out of the car and started running.

"I figured someone was dead … and I said, 'Dude are you OK?' And he said, 'Yeah, I'm alright,'" said Ryan Masters, who lives nearby.

Officers were able to catch the driver and take him into custody.

The exact cause and whether or not alcohol was a factor is still being investigated at this time.
