Injured CHP Officer Home After 3-Month Stay At Hospital

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – An officer who was allegedly intentionally run over by a motorist has been released from the hospital, authorities say.

California Highway Patrol Officer Michael Ericson had been hospitalized since the April 7 incident. CHP says 28-year-old Austin Scott hit Ericson with a car that day.

Scott has been charged with attempted murder, among other felony charges.

Officer Ericson was left in critical condition after the incident. His condition has since steadily improved.

Tuesday, CHP announced that Officer Ericson had gone home. Officer Ericson still has a long road of recovery ahead, CHP says.

CHP notes that Officer Ericson is thankful and appreciative of the outpouring of support he's received.
