House fire in Amador County's Pioneer community kills 1

PIONEER — One person died in a house fire in the Amador County community of Pioneer on Wednesday night.

The Amador Fire Protection District said it happened just before 7 p.m. along Pioneer Creek Road. Firefighters arrived to find light smoke coming from the home.

Firefighters located one individual during a search of the home and moved them outside. Despite life-saving efforts, the person died at the scene.

More personnel arrived to help put the fire out.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, but Amador Fire said it does not suspect anything suspicious.

Officials have not released the name of the person killed. No other injuries were reported.
