Hotel That Prompted 167 Police Calls Near Arden Fair Mall Closed By City of Sacramento

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A hotel deemed a nuisance by the city of Sacramento has closed as part of a settlement, the city announced on Friday.

The owner of the Sacramento Inn and Suites, formerly known as the Clarion Inn settled a public nuisance lawsuit against the city involving the property neighboring Arden Fair mall.

The hotel next to the southeastern corner of the mall had drawn criticism and complaints for neighbors involving robbery, prostitution and human trafficking. The city says in addition to the drug use and sale on the property, there were also egregious fire and building code violations.

In May of 2014, there were 167 calls for police services at the property.

As part of the settlement, the hotel's owner agreed to cease operations and paid delinquent taxes.
