Hot Hikers Rescued By CHP Helicopter

LAKE BERRYESSA (CBS13) - Two lost hikers are back home after being flown to safety by a California Highway Patrol helicopter.

The pair were rescued on Tuesday from a steep and rugged ridgeline near Berryessa Peak.

"The hikers were exhausted and without water" says CHP officer James Andrews and "they had been hiking for nine hours, and it was 95 degrees out."

A camera mounted on the aircraft captured part of the rescue.

It took 20 minutes for the CHP flight crew to locate the hikers, lower a hoist, and fly them to a clearing where they were treated by emergency personnel.
