Homeowner Fights Off Attacker In Backyard Of West Sacramento Home

WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A man is recovering in the hospital after he allegedly attacked a homeowner in West Sacramento early Tuesday morning.

The homeowner says around 3:30 a.m. he heard a noise in his backyard in the 3000 block of Alder Way, and went out went outside to investigate. As soon as he walked outside, he was struck by the suspect with a pipe.

A fight ensued and the homeowner was able to restrain the suspect, described as a man in his 20s, until police could arrive. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries, according to a West Sacramento Police Department spokesperson.

The suspect will likely be charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

The homeowner was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
