Homeless Camp Fire Burns Along I-80 In North Sacramento

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A large homeless encampment fire was burning along Interstate 80 near the Natomas area Thursday afternoon, according to the Sacramento Fire Department.

The fire was burning along the eastbound side of the interstate between Northgate Boulevard and Norwood Avenue.

The Sacramento Fire Department said crews were working on fire access, containment and extinguishment.

Heavy smoke was falling over all lanes of the freeway, but the fire was beginning to die down just before 5 p.m.
