SUV Driver Hit By 2 Semi Trucks In Deadly Highway 99 Crash

ELK GROVE (CBS13) - A deadly crash blocked lanes on Highway 99 near Elk Grove early Wednesday morning.

The scene is along northbound Highway 99 between Sheldon Road and Laguna Boulevard.

One SUV and two semi trucks were involved in the crash, which happened around 3:30 a.m. California Highway Patrol says the SUV driver crashed and ended up in the number 3 lane of the freeway.

The first semi truck then struck the SUV driver, who had apparently gotten out of the vehicle. The second semi truck then struck the SUV driver as he was lying in the road.

CHP says the SUV driver was killed. His name has not been released.

Exactly what led up to SUV driver crashing initially is unclear.

All lanes of northbound Highway 99 were reopened just before 6 a.m., according to Caltrans.
