Highway 70 back open in Marysville after big rig hits train trestle

MARYSVILLE - Highway 70 was entirely shut down in Marysville for a time on Wednesday after a big rig hit a train trestle.

The incident happened under the Highway 70 train trestle at 18th Street, according to Caltrans. The incident subsequently forced the closure of the highway in both directions.

Union Pacific is sending its crews to inspect the structure. In the meantime, Caltrans urges motorists to use alternate routes in town.

Caltrans reopened the road around 3:30 p.m.

It's not the first time a taller vehicle has crashed into this trestle. A semi-truck crashed into it in Ferburary 2022, and there have been several incidents over the past few years.
