High-School Athletic Director Found With Runaway Girl In Nevada

HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) - Police say a 36-year-old Southern California high school athletic director is jailed in suburban Las Vegas on statutory sexual assault charges after he was found with a runaway 15-year-old girl from his school.

Henderson police said Wednesday that Juan Ivan Barajas of San Gabriel was arrested Tuesday after a patrol officer found him in a parked vehicle with the girl in a residential neighborhood.

Police say the girl, a student at San Gabriel Mission High School, was reported missing Friday after her relationship with Barajas was discovered by family members. She was due to be returned Wednesday to her parents.

Barajas was booked into the Henderson city jail pending an initial court appearance Aug. 10 on five felony charges.

Police say it's not clear if he has an attorney.
